This ledger contains every legal act written by the Virginia General Assembly from 1748 until 1794 when it was published. Both Houses of the General Assembly met in the capital of Williamsburg “during the Reign of George the Second.” Stuart Burns Carter donated this book to the Botetourt Museum when he lived at Greyledge in Buchanan. As a State Senator, he obtained the book from the Penns, whose family member had served in the General Assembly during that time. It is in the Courthouse Gallery.
