In 1970, Botetourt celebrated its 200th anniversary. This heavy china plate was made for decorative use only by Preston-Hopkinson Company in Appomattox, Va. It shows the 1848 Greek Revival-style Botetourt County Courthouse before it burned on December 15, 1970. The inscription reads “Fincastle Court House Botetourt County, Virginia Bicentennial 1770-1970.” It was donated to the Botetourt History Museum by Salem resident Janice Thompson.
