Botetourt County, Roanoke County, and the Town of Vinton are collaborating on a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan through the Federal Highway Administration’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program with the goal of preventing deaths and serious injuries for all roadway users including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, commercial vehicle operators, transit riders and micro-mobility users.
In May 2024, residents of Botetourt County were invited to participate in a discussion aimed at making the streets and roads safer for everyone. More than 260 people responded to the survey, sharing their thoughts on which roadways could be improved for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. Now, it’s time to hold the next round of meetings, focusing on potential projects to address the high-crash intersections and road segments identified in the county.
Community meetings will be held on the following days:
- Tuesday, September 3, from 5-7 p.m. at Cloverdale Elementary School
- Wednesday, September 4, from 5-7 p.m. at Colonial Elementary School
During each community meeting, attendees will have a chance to win a $50 gift card for participating.
