The Lord Botetourt girls basketball team will host Class 4 Jefferson Forest tonight before heading to Floyd Friday for their last action before Christmas. The girls come into the week at 5-0 after beating Blacksburg and Floyd last week.

The Cavaliers took a 58-36 win at Blacksburg as Taylor Orange scored 20 points. Madilyn Winterton had 13 points, 10 boards and seven assists while two other Cavs also scored in double figures, Gracie Huffard with 12 and Ainsley Anderson with 10.

“We came out hot and then got too comfortable during the third quarter and let them make a run,” said LB coach Renee Favaro. “We need to find a way to stay on the gas pedal and be consistent all game.”

On Friday at home the girls opened a girls-boys doubleheader with a 46-37 win over Floyd. Winterton had 16 points and eight rebounds to pace the Cavs. Orange and Anderson had 14 points each and Huffard had a career-high eight blocks.

“Although we won all four quarters, we had a hard time creating separation from them,” said Favaro. “Floyd played incredibly hard and scrappy.”
