The annual meeting of The Botetourt County Historical Society Inc. is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 10, at 6:30 p.m. Members and friends are invited to attend. The meeting will be held in the parking lot area directly in front of the Botetourt County Historical Museum, on Courthouse Square in Fincastle. The rain date is Thursday, Sept. 17. Attendees should bring their own lawn chair and water.

The society will conduct necessary business and hear reports on ongoing projects. Revisions to the society’s bylaws will be presented for approval. An update on Botetourt County’s 250th anniversary plans will be provided and the group will hear a report on the status of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors “Social Justice” Advisory Committee. Author Ed McCoy will be present to talk about his new book, “Chronicles of Botetourt,” which was published by the historical society. Signed copies of the book will be available for sale at the meeting.

Historical society members and interested community members are invited to attend. According to a historical society spokesperson, “We invite anyone who is interested in preserving and promoting the history of Botetourt County to consider membership in the Botetourt County Historical Society Inc.” An individual or family membership is available for $25 annually. Checks for membership can be sent to BCHS, P.O. Box 468, Fincastle, 24090. For further information, contact the Botetourt County Historical Museum at 473-8394 or bothistsoc.wordpress.com.
