The Botetourt Kiwanis Club held its annual recycling event Saturday, Sept. 12 at Lord Botetourt High School. Club members and members of the Key Clubs from Lord Botetourt and James River collected paper, electronics and other items from over 300 vehicles at the drive-through event. Papers were shredded and electronics went to Goodwill Industries. John Plenge and George Honeycutt headed up the event. Many of the people who came offered donations, which will go to Kiwanis youth programs.

The club continues its recognition of local businesses, especially those hard hit by the current restrictions. This week, Tap House is Restaurant of the Week, and the Botetourt Chamber of Commerce is Business of the Week.

The next regular meeting of the Kiwanis Club will take place, via Zoom, on Monday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. To be included in the Zoom call, contact Club President Dr. Ed Lynch at elynch@hollins.edu.
