The Botetourt County Rotary Club donated $1,200 to the League for Animal Protection (LAP) at its April meeting. The funds will be used for general upkeep of the shelter, food, supplies, and/or other necessities.

Founded in 1995, LAP is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter located in Fincastle.  The shelter is staffed by 63 volunteers, the majority living in Botetourt County, and two paid employees who maintain the care of the animals and the operation of the animal shelter. The shelter is open seven days a week including all holidays. LAP provides dogs and cats a second chance to find a new forever home.

LAP launched its newest fundraiser on April 1. A large basket of various donated items will be raffled to one lucky winner. Contents of the basket will be posted to LAP’s Facebook page soon. Tickets are $5 each and the winner will be selected on May 1. Tickets may be purchased by mail by sending a check to League for Animal Protection, P.O. Box 561, Fincastle, 24090. The shelter will also have a Venmo and PayPal option on the Facebook page for ticket purchases.

The Botetourt County Rotary Club meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Fincastle Library located at 11 Academy Street. Meetings typically start at noon and last approximately an hour. Later each month, members hold an after-hours social at various restaurants in Botetourt County. Those interested are invited to visit one of the meetings to see firsthand what Rotary is all about.
