Botetourt Board of Supervisors member Billy W. Martin has scheduled a second town hall meeting concerning the water rate increase request by the Aqua Virginia Inc. water company.

The Blue Ridge District representative is holding the meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9 at Rainbow Forest Baptist Church.

Greg Odell, CEO of Aqua Virginia, has been invited to this meeting to share Aqua Virginia’s views on the rate increase. Aqua Virginia has already petitioned the State Corporation Commission to approve the increase.

People who live in the following subdivisions are subject to a 69 percent increase in water rates: Apple Tree, Mountain Tree, Oakwood, Parkview, Rainbow Forest, Stratford Place, Blue Ridge Heights, White Oak and Steeplechase.

“If you are concerned about your rates and the possibility of another rate increase in your water bills, please attend this town hall meeting to discuss our concerns and what we can do to oppose this rate increase,” Martin said. “This is a very important meeting and I hope to see you there.”
