The Botetourt Sports Complex will be the site of the Region 3D softball tournament semifinals and finals this week. The semifinals were scheduled for Tuesday and the championship game is Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Lord Botetourt was in the semifinals, scheduled to meet Cave Spring on Tuesday. The Cavaliers had beaten the Knights twice during the regular season, but by close scores of 3-2 and 3-0.

The other semifinal had Tunstall playing Staunton River. Both finalists advance to the Class 3 state tournament.

Botetourt’s record was 16-4 after defeating Christiansburg in a regional opening round game last week. The Cavs hammered the Blue Demons, 13-0, as Meredith Wells pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out eight.

Kloe Bacon hit her team-leading sixth home run for LB and Lauren Hoffman had two doubles and drove in four runs. Wells and Emma Tyler both had two hits each.
