The Lord Botetourt track team opened the season last week with beautiful weather for two meets. The Cavaliers were at William Byrd on Wednesday and on Saturday they competed in the Northside Invitational.
At Byrd, Maddie Malue took second in the girls 100 hurdles and Savion Moon took second in the 110 hurdles for the boys. Bryson Cook took a second in the 1600 and Katie Cross was third in that event in the girls meet. Cook also took a third in the 400, while Moon took a second in the 300 hurdles.
At Northside, Moon took second in the 110 hurdles and fifth in the 300. The boys 4×100 relay team took third while Daylon Compton was fourth in the 100.
For the girls, Brooklyn Hornback won the 400 with a time of 1:05.07 and Lauren Duff was second in that event at 1:05.29. Sofia Hernandez took a third in both the 1600 and 3200 for LB.
The Cavaliers are at a meet at Staunton River today. On Saturday they go to the Amherst Invitational, then take a week off for spring break.
