The Bash was scheduled for Friday and Saturday, but Friday rains forced the schedule to be revamped and LB played three times Saturday. That didn’t seem to be a problem for the Cavaliers as they defeated Greenbrier Christian, Liberty and Tazewell.

The first game of the day was a 9-5 win over Greenbrier, a team from the Virginia Beach area. Lauren Hoffman pitched a complete game to pick up the win, fanning seven and allowing just four hits. Lauren also had two hits at the plate, including a bases-loaded double that cleared the bases in the second inning.

Kloe Bacon also had a big game, as she cleared the bases with a double in the first inning to get the Cavaliers off to a good start. Meredith Wells homered in the seventh for some icing on the cake.

Next up for the Cavaliers was Liberty High and this proved to be a pitching duel. Wells won the battle, pitching a complete game four-hitter as LB took a 2-1 win over the Minutewomen.

This game was scoreless through four, and Liberty took a one run lead in the top of the fifth. LB battled right back in the bottom of the inning as Hailey Deter walked, Gianna Sloan-Lebron singled and Halle Reese doubled them both in with a shot to right center. That proved to be all the runs Wells would need to pick up the win.

In Botetourt’s final game of the day the Cavs took a 7-2 win over Tazewell. Brianna Carter got her first start of the season on the mound and picked up the win, scattering seven hits. Mia Folk, Madison Gunter and Reese drove in two runs each for the Cavaliers.

Botetourt is now 9-2 on the season and the Cavaliers are halfway through the spring campaign. They were scheduled to play at Northside Tuesday and Friday they go to William Byrd before taking next week off for spring break.
