George Forrest (Frosty) Bowe, 91, of Roanoke, died at his home on Tuesday, June 11, 2019.
He was a member of Williamson Road Church of the Brethren and a Navy veteran of WWII. Forrest was a retired salesman with Allied Sales Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington and Wilma Sprinkle Bowe; his sister, June Bowe Arthur, and is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeannine Snider Bowe; two daughters and their husbands, Martha and Rod Kirby of Atlanta, Ga. and Diane and Mike Bowles of Blue Ridge; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Bowe Turner and Betty Bowe Nichols, both of Roanoke; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, Elaine Cooper and Bonnie Bauseman, for their loving care as well as Brittany Leffel of Amedisys Hospice.
Funeral services were conducted at 12 p.m. on Friday, June 14, at Oakey’s East Chapel with Pastor Harvey Leddy and Chaplain Troy Mays, of Amedisys Hospice, officiating. Burial was in Trinity Cemetery in Botetourt County with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy.
The family received friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Read Mountain Fire and Rescue Department or Amedisys Hospice. Arrangements were by Oakey’s East Chapel, 977-3909.
