Botetourt County Boy Scouts participated in Clean Valley Council’s Clean Valley Day on April 6. The scouts picked up trash in the field behind the Daleville Food Lion Marketplace. They spent more than three hours in the field picking up various food wrappers, bottles, cans, cups, and paper along with a tire and some construction debris. Some cash money was also picked up, showing the scouts that karma rewards hard work. In total, more than 13 bags of trash were picked up, and it made a noticeable visual improvement of the area.

Domino’s pizza employees noticed, and rewarded the scouts with pizza and cold water for lunch. Donnie D’s Bagels also noticed, and allowed the scouts to put a few bags of trash in its dumpster, rather than transporting it. The scouts really appreciated the support of these businesses.

Other members of the Cub Scout Pack kayaked at Carvin’s Cove, and picked up trash and fishing debris at Goose Island.

The scouts chose this Botetourt site because their charter organization, Trinity Church of the Brethren, will hold a sunrise service there at 6:30 a.m. Easter Sunday. The service will be held above the Marketplace cul-de-sac between CVS and Domino’s Pizza. The church will also host an Easter program at the church on Roanoke Road that morning at 11. All are welcome to attend.
