Graduating Botetourt Technical Education Center (BTEC) students took part in Career Signing Day last Wednesday in Fincastle.

The ceremony showcased 14 students from the Nurse Aide, Auto Service, Cosmetology, and Building Trades programs who put their signatures to paper, taking their first step toward new experiences.

Mike Ketron, Supervisor of Career Technical Education and Adult Education, hosted the proceedings.

BTEC students gathered to sign their letters of intent.

“The first day of school is always my favorite day of school because there is so much potential and excitement coming through the door,” Ketron stated. “The reason this is my second favorite day of school is that these are the students that have realized their potential. They’ve done the work and taken advantage of their opportunities.”

Ketron mentioned the students and the school persevering through the challenging 2020-21 school year. He made special “thank you’s” to his staff and members of the Botetourt community who came to the signing day. He also recognized the parents of the students for playing a part in the students’ success.
