The Town of Buchanan asks you if you remember how much fun you had as a child attending the Buchanan Community Carnival?  The town and its group of dedicated volunteers invite you to  Buchanan’s 69th annual Buchanan Community Carnival.

The kickoff for this year’s carnival is Thursday, June 29 with activities continuing through Saturday, July 8. (The carnival is closed on Sunday, July 3.) Food stands open by 6 p.m. each evening with rides opening at 6:30 p.m.

For more than six decades, seventy-five plus volunteers gather each evening during Carnival to welcome visitors to the Buchanan Town Park. Discover a colorful midway filled with family oriented games and rides provided by Coles Amusements, and, great food prepared and served by the volunteers including ice cream, “Carnival Burgers,” Petros, hot dogs, and  Buchanan’s famous Carnival Fries.

Throughout the event, both familiar and new names will entertain crowds during live performances from Center Stage. Bands include Pleading the Fifth, Blue Connection, Midnight Blue, Glen Shelton Band, Cimmaron, Flicker Hill, Live Tandem, The Odd Fellows, and Wound Tight.

Families can save by purchasing tickets in advance online from www.colerides.com. Online all-you-can-ride wristbands are $20, while those purchased on site are $25.  On Wednesday and Thursday, July 5 and 6, wristbands may be purchased on site for just $15.

Special Fourth of July activities include the Buchanan Fourth of July Parade on Tuesday, July 4 at 5 p.m. Children are invited to bring decorated bicycles to ride in the parade as well as any other individuals, churches, businesses and civic groups who may wish to march or enter floats. Line up for the parade begins at 4 p.m.

One of the highlights of the entire carnival is the 4th of July fireworks display, headed up by the Gilliam Family and Crew. The fireworks display will take place on Tuesday, July 4 at 10 p.m.

Additional activities include games and the Big Prize Tickets offering prizes donated by local businesses and civic organizations including the opportunity to win $2,500.
