- Buchanan Arbor Day – Friday, April 8, Buchanan’s annual Arbor Day Celebration Tree Planting Ceremony at 11 a.m. on the Buchanan Town Park at 485 Lowe Street. During the xelebration, Dennis McCarthy, a VDOF forester, will discuss the Tree City USA Program, then present the town with its Tree City USA Recertification. The day’s activities will culminate with the unveiling of the Buchanan Arbor Day Donors Plaque and the ceremonial planting of trees on the Town Park. Volunteers will help plant trees to help beautify the Town Park, provide food and nesting for wildlife and help reduce runoff in to the James River, helping to preserve the Chesapeake Bay.
- Buchanan Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday, April 9, Buchanan Easter Egg Hunt on the Town Park beginning promptly at 11 a.m. Bring cameras to take selfies with the Easter Bunny.
- Buchanan Spring Clean Up – Saturday, April 23, Buchanan Spring Clean Up; dumpsters will be available for town residents.
- Second Sunday Curbside Dinner –Sunday, April 10, with pick up from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the Historic Wilson Warehouse for curbside meals to go for $12. April’s menu includes baked ham, sweet potato casserole, corn pudding, green beans and dessert. Proceeds help preserve the Historic Wilson Warehouse. Orders must be placed by Friday, April 8.
