Local residents and visitors enjoyed the sights and sounds of last weekend’s “Spring Fling” in Buchanan.

By Matt de Simone

Residents and visitors gathered in the Town of Buchanan last Saturday to celebrate the annual “Spring Fling.”

Folks walked up and down Buchanan’s main throughway Saturday morning as the sun poked its head in and out of the clouds. Vendors and community leaders lined the sidewalks as citizens and visitors experienced an array of goods and services.

Several entrepreneurs and artisans presented new goods and ideas such as wind chimes, kettle corn, and a Buchanan cookbook, “Simply Love Buchanan,” produced by the Town Improvement Society consisting of recipes made by residents passed down from generation to generation. Houses for Bluebirds by Flicker had a variety of birdhouses and bluebird prints for sale. Sharin’ Flowers set up a display of arrangements for visitors to enjoys and purchase.

Children enjoyed visiting the Buchanan Fire and Rescue Building, seeing the fire truck, and receiving a fire helmet, kites, and bubbles. Kids also got to experience activities like a bean bag toss and decorating the sidewalks with chalk.

Buchanan District candidates for nomination to run for the Board of Supervisors Amy White and Will Smith were also present, speaking to members of the community.
