Buchanan’s 2023 Community Carnival Fireworks were dedicated this past Fourth of July to Burleigh Gilliam who passed away on March 27. Burleigh headed up the Buchanan fireworks display for 42 years. During his tenure, Burleigh trained two generations of pyro-technicians in safe performances and sharing in the love of the smoke and fire. These technicians include Burleigh’s sons, Dan and Ben, who took the lead this year providing an incredible fireworks display dedicated to Burleigh. The show was something he always took great pride and satisfaction in.
