Buchanan forum will give residents chance to meet council candidates

Town of Buchanan residents will the opportunity to get to know the seven individuals running for Town Council during a Candidates Forum Tuesday, Oct. 2 from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Town Hall.

Buchanan voters will elect four council members during the November 6 General Election along with the mayor.

The forum is only for candidates on the ballot that include Chris Witt, John Mays, Diane DiPalma, Joe DiPalma, Brenda Nosek, Jamie Manspile and Nate Hansard.

Current Mayor Craig Bryant is the only candidate for that post. He will serve as moderator for the event. Town Manager Jason Tyree will serve as timekeeper and assist the moderator as needed.

The forum agenda will be:

6 p.m.— Meet and Greet

6:30 p.m.— Speeches begin (5-6 minutes per candidate)

7:30 p.m.— First question (3 minutes per candidate to answer the question)

8 p.m.— Second question (3 minutes per candidate to answer the question)

8:30 p.m.— End of forum

Each candidate has been asked to give a short speech on who they are, why they are running, and what they want to accomplish. The first candidate will chosen at random). Bryant will ask two questions to each candidate (chosen again at random). This will not be a debate style forum. It is just meant so residents can find out more about each candidate.
