Alice Virginia Burrell, 83, of Buchanan, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, April 14, 2019.
Alice was born in Fincastle on September 13, 1935 to the late George Alexander and Mary Ruth Thompson Burrell. She lived in Botetourt County all her life.
Alice was a cook for many restaurants in the area and retired as a cook from the Botetourt County Sheriff’s office after nine years and the Truckstops restaurant after 19 years. She enjoyed cooking, planting flowers, dancing, playing with her beloved dogs, and having a good talk with family and friends. Alice loved her two special dogs, Bo and Sally, and she loved spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her brothers, Sam Burrell, Anthony Burrell, and Andrew Thompson.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James Antonio Burrell and Eva Estep of Buchanan, Charles and Sharon Burrell, Joseph Matthew Burrell, Melvin Burrell, Brian Burrell, and Stephon Burrell, all of Fincastle; grandchildren, Chasity Waldron of Roanoke and Alexander Joseph Burrell of Fincastle; sisters and brother-in-law, Dolly and Van Muse of Roanoke and Nellie Toliver of Fincastle; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday April 17 at Lily of the Valley Church Cemetery, 4484 Springwood Road, Buchanan with Pastor Greg Irby officiating.
