BAMA Lenten services cancelled

Due to the concerns of the coronavirus situation, all the remaining BAMA Lenten worship services in Buchanan are cancelled.

Fincastle UMC Lenten services, lunches cancelled

Because of the state of emergency declared by the national and state governments, the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church has suspended all activities for the next several weeks. All remaining Lenten Lunches and Services at Fincastle United Methodist Church have been cancelled.

Craig County 5K fun run postponed

The Craig County Ole Railroad 5K Fun Run/Walk, scheduled for May 16 near New Castle, has been postponed due to the impact of COVID-19.  Team leaders, in consultation with Craig County officials, issued the following statement last week: “Considering the growing health concerns for public events, we feel it will be best to postpone the Craig 5K Fun Run until further notice.”

The public will be notified when the event is rescheduled.  Announcements will be published on the Visit Craig County Facebook page.

Ceremony for Col. William Preston Memorial delayed

The SAR/DAR/Botetourt County team planning the May 17 ceremony to re-dedicate the Col. William Preston Memorial at Greenfield has cancelled the event. They hope to re-schedule the ceremony in the future when it is safe to do so.

American Legion meetings postponed

Due to the coronavirus and Gov. Ralph Northam’s executive order, the Executive Committee of the American Legion Post 240 has decided to postpone monthly meetings until further notice.

GOP Women’s meeting cancelled

The Botetourt County Republican Women’s meeting scheduled for April 7 is cancelled. Consult The Fincastle Herald for information regarding the May 5 meeting.
