Hung Cao won last Tuesday’s Republican Primary to run against incumbent Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine (D) in November’s election for the U.S. Senate in Virginia. Cao took in 57% of the votes over Republican candidates Edward Garcia Jr., Jonathan Emord, C.L. Smith Jr., and Scott Thomas Parkinson.

Listed below are the county candidates that have submitted paperwork for all open offices on the November 5, 2024 ballot submitted by the Botetourt County Department of Elections & Voter Registration.

Due to the resignation of former Mayor David Horton in Troutville, Town Council appointed Mike Mansfield to serve the remainder of Mayor Horton’s term (December 31, 2024).  Mansfield’s seat on Troutville Town Council will require a special election in November. Voters have until August 16, 2024 at 5 p.m. to submit paperwork to the Registrar’s Office to become a candidate for that unexpired term (December 31, 2025).
