The Lord Botetourt baseball team was rained out of a Blue Ridge District game with William Byrd last week that was scheduled for Daleville. The Cavaliers are off this week for spring break.

Botetourt goes into the break with a 7-5 overall record and a 1-1 record in the BRD. The Cavs split two close games early last week before the rainout, losing a pitchers’ duel at Northside but bouncing back to win a home game with Patrick Henry.

The Vikings beat LB 1-0 on a bases-loaded “walk-off” walk in the bottom of the seventh. Brae Farrell held the Vikings scoreless until the winning run scored with two outs in the seventh. Farrell struck out 12.

A day later the Cavaliers played at home and edged Patrick Henry, 6-5. This was a walk off win for Botetourt as Connor Fuhrman raced home on a throwing error for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

Botetourt hit three home runs in the game, two by Meade Mayo and one by Jake Dewease. Jared Arnholt picked up the win in relief. Matt Oliver pitched the first six innings and left with a three-run lead, but he was pulled due to a high pitch count and the Patriots tied the game in the top of the seventh before LB rallied for the win.

The Cavaliers will return next Tuesday with a game at William Fleming.
