The Lord Botetourt girls will be busy Saturday as they’ll play five matches in a big volleyball event at Cave Spring High School.
LB will start the day bright and early with an 8:30 a.m. match against Hidden Valley. They’re back on the court at 11 a.m. to play Rustburg, followed by a match with Abingdon at 12:15 p.m. After a short break the Cavs take on host Cave Spring at 2:45 p.m. and wrap it up at 4 p.m. against Liberty Christian Academy.
The Cavaliers have two other matches this week, at home with William Byrd on Tuesday and at William Fleming on Thursday. The Tuesday match was the big “Spike Out Kids Cancer Night.” Look for results in next week’s edition.
LB comes into the week with a 9-4 record after defeating two Blue Ridge District teams last week, both in three sets. Against Franklin County, at home, Ava Stephens and Skyla Corkins had nine kills each, Sydney Bergsten had six and Olivia Bergsten had 12 digs. In a win over Staunton River in Moneta last Thursday, Stephens had eight kills and three blocks, Eliza Payne had five kills and Bergsten had 16 digs and four aces.
Next Tuesday, October 6, the girls will host Northside in a BRD match.
