The Lord Botetourt boys opened the soccer season with three games last week and they came out on the long end of one, the short end of one and even in the other.

The Cavaliers traveled to Glenvar High School for their season opener, dropping a 2-1 decision at Highlander Stadium. The game was back and forth for most of the game, but Glenvar was able to capitalize on mistakes. The Cavaliers’ lone goal came from Cadyn Bowles off of a penalty kick.

A day later the Cavs played their first home game against Brookville High School. The Cavaliers took a quick and early lead and by halftime the score was 3-0.

The Cavaliers kept their foot on the gas in the second half and finished with a 6-1 win. Jordan Thornhill and Zach Ruhlman had two goals each for LB while Dylan Salvi and Bowles had one each.

On Friday, LB was back on the pitch for the third time in four days as the Cavs traveled to Salem for a game at Spartan Field. The result was a hard-fought battle that went into overtime.

Ruhlman gave the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead with 11 minutes left in the game, but Salem responded a few minutes later with a penalty kick in the box. The game went into overtime with no score and the final was a 1-1 tie.

Botetourt was back in action Tuesday to host Glenvar, and that was the last action before spring break.
