The Botetourt County Museum of History & Culture will host Liberty on the Lawn on Saturday, July 11, as part of Virginia’s VA250 commemoration.
The free event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the museum’s side lawn at 25 E. Main St., Fincastle.
Visitors can experience Colonial-era history through historical interpreters portraying Abigail Adams, Betsy Ross and Andrew Lewis. Other activities will include face-in-the-hole photo boards for children, a replica of the Declaration of Independence for visitors to sign with a quill pen, genealogy research stations to help attendees discover Revolutionary War Patriot ancestors, and a wool-spinning demonstration by Phil Coffey.
The event also will feature Colonial-era games for children, period music and light refreshments.
The museum encourages families and community members to attend the event as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary commemoration.
