The Botetourt County Chamber of Commerce held a Network at Lunch event last Thursday at Murray Cider Co. Marj Easterling, owner of Big Lick Screen Printing, served as the guest speaker. During the event, Easterling shared details about how as a single mother, she launched her own business.

“Marj is a tireless supporter of the local community, promoting other small businesses, non-profit organizations, and youth groups. She enjoys welcoming school groups into her shop to teach them about silk screening and to give them the opportunity to make their own t-shirts. She does what she can to assist others to be successful, believing that this support is the path to success. With a life philosophy to ‘learn as much as you can, go on as many great adventures as possible, and do what you can to make someone’s day.’ Marj brings kindness, joy, and business acumen to all those she comes in contact with,” the chamber said.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Big Lick Screen Printing has been partnering with other local businesses to sell apparel to make up for revenue losses. To date, the project has raised over $50,000 for local businesses.

In 2018, Easterling competed in The Gauntlet Business Program and Competition. She received a silver award.

Big Lick Screen Printing employs four people.

A dental hygienist by trade, Easterling is now the owner and operator of Big Lick Screen Printing.
Network at Lunch was held at Murray Cider Co.
The next lunch event the chamber will hold will be on Oct. 8. Roanoke College’s Steve Baker will be discussing communication in an age diverse workplace during the virtual event. [SUBMITTED PHOTOS]
