Fish fry August 25 in Fincastle

A fish fry will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25 at Church of the Transfiguration, 7624 Roanoke Road, Fincastle, sponsored by Knights of Columbus. All you can eat-in or two full filet take-out, adult though 8 years old, $9 at the door, children (7 years and under), free. The dinner will be fried flounder, chicken nuggets for children, homemade cole slaw, sweet cornbread, fries and dessert. There also will be a 50/50 drawing. No advance ticket sales. Limestone Park ham steak dinner and Vespers Sun.

Limestone Park will have a ham steak dinner to benefit the park on Sunday, Aug. 27 from 4-7 p.m.  Meal will be ham steak with pineapple, buttered potatoes, green beans and bread for $8.  Carry out is available. Advance tickets are highly recommended and are available at Limestone Park. Dessert will be available for an additional fee.

Limestone Park Vespers are this Sunday at 7:30 p.m. with Dan Bowser sharing a devotion and music provided by Haylee Harris, Cassada Harris and Clarence Stinnett.

Thrift Shop

The Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop summer sale includes all men’s and women’s summer clothes just 50 cents each. This includes men pants, short sleeve shirts, and shorts. Women clothes include dresses, skirts, tops, shorts, nightgowns and shoes. There also is a large selection of infants and toddlers clothes for only 50 cents each. The shop is open each Saturday, 9 a.m-1 p.m.

 

Upcoming events at Pleasant Hill

Friends of Praise will be leading worship at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Sunday, August 27 for Bluegrass Sunday. The public is invited for the 11 a.m. celebration of gospel hymns and songs.

Pleasant Hill Baptist will host a First Responder/Law Enforcement Sunday on September 10 at 11 a.m.

The public is invited to join the congregation in honoring local firefighters, EMS and law enforcement officers.

Mt. Pleasant Homecoming

Mt. Pleasant United Methodist (White) Church will celebrate Homecoming on Sunday, Sept. 10. Sunday School begins at 10 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. A meal will be served at 12:15 p.m. There will be singing by the Rev. Robert McRae at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

 

PleasantDale Homecoming, anniversary Sept. 3

PleasantDale Church of the Brethren will celebrate Homecoming and its 101st anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 3. The worship and celebration will be from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The Rev. Ray Bayse is guest speaker with music by The White Family. Dinner on the grounds will follow. Everyone is invited. PleasantDale is located on Breckinridge Mill Road.
