Church Encouragement at Solomon’s Mission
Solomon’s Mission is hosting a Church Encouragement evening at 6 p.m. April 11.
The evening will consist of a meal, praise music by Jeff McMeans and Blake Vaughn from Bonsack Baptist Church, and guest speaker Daniel Colston. Colston served as youth pastor for six years and will speak on the importance of financial health to your spiritual well being and leadership in church. The event is at no cost and no RSVP.
Lapsleys Run Baptist celebrating pastor’s anniversary
Lapsleys Run Baptist Church will celebrate the first anniversary of the Rev. David W. Halsey Sr. as pastor on Sunday, April 14 at 3 p.m.
Guests for the afternoon service will be Elder Gregory Moore and The Gospel Tabernacle of Covington.
Dinner will be served after morning service.
Special Easter services at Mill Creek
Mill Creek Baptist Church invites the community to April services as “Easter’s Mercy – Through the Eyes of Forgiveness” is presented through music, drama and spoken word:
• April 7 at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m., “Jesus’ Life & Miracles”
• Palm Sunday, April 14, “Judas at the Triumphal Entry”.
• Maundy Thursday, April 18, potluck dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a special service at 7 p.m., follow “Jesus’ Road to Calvary.” Children’s activities will be available during this service.
• Good Friday, April 19, a brief Cross Draping Service on the front lawn of the church at 3 p.m.
• Easter Sunday, April 21, a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall followed by a breakfast. Then at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., celebrate “The Resurrection!”
• Sunday, April 28 at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., experience “Our Savior’s Love.” The adult and children’s handbell choirs will provide special music that day.
The public is invited to any or all of these special services.
Easter Egg Hunt at Mill Creek
Mill Creek Baptist Church will be holding the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at the church, beginning in the sanctuary with the Easter story. After the egg hunt, there will be hot dogs, chips and cupcakes in the fellowship hall. Everyone is invited.
Galatia welcoming new pastor
Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church invites the public to meeting new Transitional Pastor Karyn Cartier on Friday, April 19 from 6-8 p.m. at the church. Refreshments will be provided.
Galatia EPC is located at 78 Gala Loop Road, Eagle Rock. Attend and help the church welcome the new pastor to the community.
A sunrise service will be held at the church at 7 a.m. on April 21, with a potluck breakfast afterward. The regular worship service will be at 11 a.m.
Springwood Food Pantry open April 17
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on April 17 from 10 a.m. until noon. Additionally, Feeding America Southwest Virginia’s produce delivery vehicle, the “Veggie Mobile,” will be onsite on both dates to distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to community members in need free of charge. This program is part of the food bank’s Mobile Produce Program. Stop by and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to get fresh, healthy produce.

Bingo at Wheatland Lutheran Church
After a break during the winter months, the meeting of Sharing God’s Grace returns in April on Tuesday, April 16 at Wheatland Lutheran Church. The community is invited to this popular gathering which offers fellowship, good food, an opportunity to make new friends, and the ever popular game of Bingo. The meeting begins at noon with lunch prepared by the ladies of the church. After dessert, cards are then distributed for Bingo. Modest gifts are awarded to the winning cards. Easter events at Springwood Baptist
Springwood Baptist Church invites everyone to Palm Sunday Service on Sunday April 14. During Sunday School from 9:45-10:45 a.m. an Easter egg hunt will be held for the children.
There will be a special Good Friday service at 7 p.m. April 19.
A sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m. on Easter Sunday; then Sunday School from 9:45-10:45 a.m., and worship at 11 a.m.
The youth will lead the church service on Sunday, April 28.
Everyone is invited to all of these events.
Troutville Brethren Easter events
Troutville Church of the Brethren will have an egg hunt on April 14 starting at 5 p.m.
On Maundy Thursday, April 18, the Love Feast worship service at 7 p.m. and Easter worship at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 21.
Candy Easter eggs available from Ebenezer UMC
Ebenezer United Methodist Church is starting to make peanut butter, butter cream and coconut Easter eggs. The eight-ounce eggs cost $5. If interested call Sharon at 540-797-9978 and leave a message. The eggs will be available for pick up the week before Palm Sunday.

Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop
The Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop is having a March clearance sale. All winter clothes are only 50 cents each. The shop accepts donations Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and is open each Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Fincastle UMC Wednesday services for Lent
Fincastle United Methodist Church will hold weekly Wednesday Lenten Services and Lunch in the Family Life Center, 137 South Church Street, Fincastle. These 20-minute services begin at 12:05 p.m. and will be led by area pastors. A home-cooked lunch will follow each service. The service and meal are designed to last about one hour. Child care will be provided. Takeout meals will be available. The remaining services are:
• April 3 – The Rev. Willis Logan, Fincastle Episcopal Church; Lunch – Vegetable Soup, Sausage Corn Chowder, Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Fruit, Desserts

The lunch menus are subject to change. If Botetourt County Public Schools are closed because of inclement weather, the service will be canceled.

Buchanan Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) Lenten services
The Buchanan area churches invite the public to attend ecumenical worship services during the season of Lent leading up to Easter Sunday morning. The services begin with worship followed by the Word being preached. Each service that begins at 12 noon will conclude with a free light lunch in that church’s fellowship hall. The services held at 7 p.m. will have a time of fellowship and refreshments. All are welcome to each service. Any questions, call 580-6810.

FUMC chicken barbecue April 6
Fincastle United Methodist Church is sponsoring a chicken barbecue on Saturday, April 6. It will be held at the VFW Hall, 4902 Roanoke Road, from 4-7 p.m. The menu is half a barbecued chicken with Percy Bolton’s special sauce, homemade potato salad, baked apples, roll and a drink. Homemade desserts will be available for purchase. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance by calling 473-2969 or 521-5074.
Yard sale April 6 at Troutville Brethren
A yard sale will be held at Troutville Church of the Brethren on Saturday, April 6 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. There also will be breakfast food available, and hot dogs and barbecue with all the fixings for lunch.
Blue Ridge churches hosting sunrise service
There will be an Easter sunrise service at Glade Creek Cemetery at 7 a.m. for the community. It is hosted by the Blue Ridge participating churches. This year J. Michael Palmer, a renowned former pastor, will bring the message. There will be a breakfast
served after the service.hosted by the Lutheran Church. Everyone is invited.
St. Mark’s UMC plans fall trips
