Springwood Food Pantry date
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on April 19 from 10 a.m. until noon.

‘Sharing God’s Grace’ returns April 18

After a break during the winter months, “Sharing God’s Grace,” the luncheon and fellowship gathering at Wheatland Lutheran Church, will resume on Tuesday, April 18. Lunch will be served at noon by the Ladies of the Church, followed by an informative program.

Leah Hatcher will be the speaker at the meeting to talk about the services and programs Lutheran Family Services provides in the Roanoke area and throughout the state. Leah is a Botetourt native and has been with Lutheran Family Services as a Development Coordinator for over two years.

Lutheran Family Services of Virginia (LFSVA) has two schools in Roanoke, both teaching students with behavioral and developmental disabilities. The vocational campus focuses on life skills to help prepare students for adulthood. LFSVA serves adults with disabilities through a Day Support program, Family Care Homes, and in-home care services. The newest program, Supported Employment Services, offers job coaching and resources for individuals with disabilities to get and maintain a job. LFSVA also offers post-adoption counseling for any family that has adopted. To learn more about what Lutheran Family Services has to offer, visit www.lfsva.org or call Leah at 562-8486.

The community is invited to attend the meeting to enjoy good food, friendly fellowship, and an enlightening program. The church is located at 1560 Wheatland Road. To make reservations for the meeting, and get directions to the church, call 254-1734.

Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop

The thrift shop has a large selection of spring and summer clothes for the entire family; also shoes for everyone. Women’s shorts and capri pants for just $1. The shop is open each Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Ladies Night Out at First Baptist

First Baptist Church of Fincastle will be hosting its annual Ladies Night Out on Saturday, April 22 at 4 p.m. This spiritual event is organized by First Lady Sis. Carolyn Brown and the guest speaker will be Robin Harnist ,who is from Topfield, Mass. but is now residing in Roanoke. She is an inspirational speaker who has shared her ministry in various cities and who is presently serving as a Group Leader for the Women’s Ministry at Bible Study Fellowship in Roanoke. The attire is casual. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be served directly after in the fellowship hall. The church is located at 6529 Blue Ridge Turnpike, Fincastle. The Rev. Montie E. Daleridge Church of Christ will hold Ladies Day, “Attaining Your Dream Home,” from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 22. Check in is 8:30 a.m.; pastries, drinks and lunch provided. Andrew Chapel Cemetery donations sought

Mowing season is here and donations for the maintenance of the Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery are welcome. Donations may be sent to Andrew Chapel Cemetery Fund at P.O. Box 998, Buchanan, 24066. No contribution is too small and all are greatly appreciated.

Cow Bell Service at Mt. Joy

Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren will hold a Cow Bell Service on Saturday, April 29, at 7 p.m. The church is located 2565 Buffalo Road, Buchanan. Everyone is welcome.

Pierce Chapel yard sale

A yard sale at Pierce Chapel Church is being planned for April 29. Pierce Chapel is located four miles north of Fincastle on Timber Ridge Road.

The sale will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Spaces will be available for $5 each and sellers must provide their own tables. Bake sale items will be available on the grounds.

Interested parties are encouraged to call (540) 520-9647 (Lesylie Johnson) or (540) 915-2348 (Leslie Clemmer). Rain will cancel.

Limestone Park BBQ, yard sale April 29

Limestone Park in Buchanan will have its annual Beef BBQ from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. April 29. A yard sale will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Spaces are available for $15. Call Tom Moore at 529-5290. A car wash, sponsored by the swim team, starts at 10 a.m.

Wheatland Lutheran Church is having a yard sale from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, rain or shine. There will be clothing, collectibles, housewares, yard items, furniture and maybe some antiques. Food will be available. Proceeds will benefit Youth Programming. The church is located at 1560 Wheatland Road, Buchanan.
