New Beginnings Assembly of God, 1317 Narrow Passage Road, is having a yard sale and bake sale Saturday, April 29 beginning at 8 a.m.
Pancake breakfast at Solomon’s Mission Saturday
Solomon’s Mission will hold a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, April 29 from 7:30-11 a.m.
Breakfast will consist of pancakes, scrambled eggs, choice of bacon or sausage and juice, coffee or water. Cost is $7 for adults and children over 12. Children under 12 eat for $3.
Solomon’s Mission is located at 592 Lowe Street, Buchanan. All proceeds will go toward support of Solomon’s Mission.
Youth celebration at Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church
On Sunday, April 30, at 11 a.m., Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church of Eagle Rock will celebrate youth in the community through word, song and dance. Letitia Marshall of Transforming Word Ministries will speak and there will be displays of talent by other youth. Refreshments will be served following the program. Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop
The thrift shop has a large selection of spring and summer clothes for the entire family; also shoes for everyone. Women’s shorts and capri pants are just $1. The shop is open each Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren will hold a Cow Bell Service on Saturday, April 29, at 7 p.m. The church is located 2565 Buffalo Road, Buchanan. Everyone is welcome.
Trinity UMC chicken barbeque

Trinity United Methodist Church will hold their Civil War Reenactment Weekend chicken barbeque on Saturday April 29 from 12-2 p.m., eat in or take out.
Adult meals are $8 and children’s meals are $5. The adult meal includes half of a chicken, barbeque beans, slaw, drink and dessert. The children’s meal includes a hot dog, barbeque beans, slaw, drink and dessert. Proceeds will support local missions. The church is on Main Street in Buchanan.
Pierce Chapel yard sale Saturday
A yard sale at Pierce Chapel Church is being planned for April 29. Pierce Chapel is located four miles north of Fincastle on Timber Ridge Road.
The sale will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Spaces will be available for $5 each and sellers must provide their own tables. Bake sale items will be available on the grounds.

Limestone Park BBQ, yard sale April 29
Limestone Park in Buchanan will have its annual Beef BBQ from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. April 29. A yard sale will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Spaces are available for $15. Call Tom Moore at 529-5290. A car wash, sponsored by the swim team, starts at 10 a.m.

Fincastle UMC chicken barbecue

Fincastle United Methodist Church will have a chicken barbecue dinner Saturday, May 13. It will be held from 4-7 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 4902 Roanoke Road, Daleville. The menu is half a barbecued chicken with Percy Bolton’s special sauce, homemade potato salad, baked apples, roll and drink. Homemade desserts will be available for purchase. Hustle for Hunger 5K Run/Walk for Rise Against Hunger May 6
St. Mark’s United Methodist Church’s Hustle for the Hungry 5K Timed Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 9 a.m. at Greenfield Park, rain or shine.
The goal is to raise enough funds to pack over 31,000 meals for Rise Against Hunger at 29 cents per meal at the church’s annual fall meal packing event. Hustle for the Hungry provides a family-friendly, fun and competitive way to accomplish this goal, while raising awareness of the hungry.
Timing for 5K runners will be provided by Run Roanoke. Individual runner registration is $29, the same amount to pack 100 of the Rise Against Hunger meals. Individual walker registration is $15. Running or walking families are $45.
Individual registrations received at the church by April 20 will include a T-shirt and family registrations received by that date will include two T-shirts. Registrations received after April 20 will not include T-shirts; however, they may be available for purchase on race day for $10.
