Church News for Aug. 27 edition

Fincastle Presbyterian holding special service

On Wednesday, August 27, Fincastle Presbyterian Church will host the regular fourth Wednesday Wholeness and Healing service. This is a short prayer service of quiet, music, and prayer followed by a time of meal and fellowship with a light supper; meet in the fellowship hall at 5 p.m. All are invited.  The church is at 108 E. Back Street, Fincastle.

 

Ice Cream Picnic at Andrew Chapel

Andrew Chapel UMC will hold its Ice Cream Picnic on Saturday, September 6, beginning at 5 p.m. Meals will include hot dogs or Bratwurst with full fixings and chips. Homemade ice cream and desserts will also be available. Music will be provided by David Austin and Keith Wood. Proceeds benefit the church building fund. Andrew Chapel is located at 3936 Beaver Dam Road, just off Springwood Road, in Buchanan.

 

Cloverdale Thrift Store sale

Cloverdale Church of the Brethren’s Thrift Store is having a shoe sale – 25 cents a pair now. Every last Saturday of the month will have a special sale – fill a plastic grocery bag for $5.  Gently used donations are welcome. The store is open Saturdays, 9 to 12.

 

Community Meal at Eagle Rock

The Eagle Rock Potluck Community Meal will be held Monday, September 8, at the Community Center at 12 noonBring a dish or dessert to share with everyone and come for good fellowship and food.

 

PleasantDale Homecoming September 24

Homecoming will begin at 11 a.m. on September 14 at PleasantDale Church of the Brethren, celebrating the church’s 109th year of serving Christ and the community. Local favorite David Austin will be the musical guest.

A light lunch will be provided after the morning service, followed by an ice cream social.
