Springwood Food Pantry open Saturday

The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on Saturday, July 15 from 9-10:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan. This pantry is a drive through pantry, so clients may remain in their cars and volunteers will load the food for them.

The pantry is open each month on the third Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. It is a partner with Feeding America Southwest Virginia and anyone in need of food is invited.

 

Zion Hill Baptist VBS starts Sunday

Twists & Turns Vacation Bible School at Zion Hill Baptist will be held Sunday, July 16 through Wednesday, July 19 from 6 -8 p.m. for ages 4 to rising high school seniors, Adult Bible study will also be provided. Light meals will be offered to all participants.

 

Mill Creek VBS July 16-20

Mill Creek Baptist Church will host “Stellar” VBS Sunday, July 16, through Thursday, July 20, from 6-8:30 p.m. At “Stellar,” kids from age 3 through fifth grade will discover how they can shine Jesus’ love and hope in everyday life.  Online registration and more information are available on the church website millcreekbc.com. Mill Creek Baptist Church is located at 11475 Lee Highway, Fincastle.

 

Daleville Baptist VBS July 16-20

Excitement and adventure wait for children at Vacation Bible School where they will learn about the Kingdom of Light and standing strong in the battle for truth! Their presence is requested July 16-20 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Daleville Baptist Church, 375 Orchard Drive, Daleville. Ages pre-school-8th grade (3-15) are welcome. Bible Time at Colonial Baptist

What time is it? It’s Bible Time! Ready to dino stomp to a place kids dream about? Join the whimsical adventure at Colonial Baptist Church in Blue Ridge in the upcoming Colonial Bible Time July 23-26. The theme this year for boys and girls age 4-grade 6 is “Stompers & Chompers” where they can hop on a triceratops, run with a raptor, and soar with a pterosaur.
Kids will enjoy crafts, snacks, games, and a nightly stomp & chomp jungle assembly. Kids will meet Sunday-Wednesday from 6:45-8:30 p.m.  An adult class is also offered each night from 7-8:15 p.m. entitled “A Faith Worth Fighting For.”  Call the church office at 977-5683 for a ride. Pre-registration is optional at www.cbcblueridge.org. CBC is located at 221 Hillcrest Street in Blue Ridge just off Rt. 460 at Mountain Pass Rd.

 

Mt. Joy Church Homecoming

Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren will celebrate Homecoming on Sunday, August 4. Sunday School will be at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. There will be special music by Family Circle. A potluck meal will be served after the worship service. The church is located at 2565 Buffalo Road, Buchanan. Everyone is welcome.

 

Andrew Chapel ice cream/picnic July 22

Andrew Chapel UMC will hold its ice cream/picnic on Saturday, July 22, beginning at 5 p.m. This year’s event will include hot dogs and Bratwurst, with full fixings and chips, and homemade ice cream and desserts. Music will be provided by Mike Lee and the Mill Creek Players. Proceeds benefit the church building fund. Andrew Chapel is located at 3936 Beaver Dam Road, just off Springwood Road, in Buchanan.

 

VBS at Springwood Baptist

Springwood Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School on Wednesday. July 26, through Friday, July 28, from 6-8:30 p.m. The theme is “Carnival Under the Big Tent with God!” for all ages. Go to the website website to register: Springwoodbc.org. There is a VBS registration to click on and fill out.

 

‘Noah’ coming to Woodland Church

Woodland Church is presenting the spectacular “Noah” by Sight & Sound Theater, Lancaster, Pa., on Thursday, August 3, at 7 p.m. The three-hour video presentation includes an intermission with light refreshments. A church spokesman said this is a wonderful opportunity to see this production at no cost – it’s the church’s gift to the community

 

Gaslight & Gingerbread Christmas time in New Jersey   

The Joyful Journey Travel of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church  invites  you to join them on their trip to Cape May, N.J., December 4-6; 3 days, 2 nights, $565 per person double occupancy  ($734 per person single occupancy). The package includes: 2 nights lodging at the Grand Hotel, 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners, tour of 1879 Physick Estate, trolley tour of historic district, Holly Trolley Lights Tour of Cape May, free time on Washington Street Mall, visit to Towne of Historic Smithville, luggage handling, taxes and meal gratuities, motorcoach transportation and driver’s  tip.

A $25 deposit (non-refundable unless the trip is cancelled), which is part of the total price, is required with the registration form.

Deadline for payment in full is due by October 13. Payments may be made in increments so that the final payment is not so large.
