Big sale at Buchanan Presbyterian Friday, Saturday

The first yard and bake sale to benefit the Buchanan Presbyterian Church Food Pantry will include a Cheval mirror, a Victorian-style nursing rocker, Bavarian china, marbles, toys, puzzles, tools, greeting cards, a Purple Martin house, household goods, other furniture and more. Baked goods will include cheese swirl breads, pies, cakes and cookies. The sale will be held Friday, July 19, 8 a.m. till 1 p.m., and Saturday, July 20, 8 a.m. till 2 p.m. The bag sale begins Saturday at noon. The church is at 19559 Main Street, Buchanan.

 

Ebenezer UMC yard sale Saturday

Ebenezer United Methodist Church will have an inside yard sale and baked goods, plus sausage gravy/biscuits on Saturday, July 20, from 8 a.m. till 1 p.m. Ebenezer is located at 85 Nace Road, Troutville.

 

Ice cream picnic July 20 at Andrew Chapel

Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church will hold its ice cream picnic on Saturday, July 20, beginning at 5 p.m. This year’s event will include hot dogs and Bratwurst, with full fixings and chips, and homemade ice cream and desserts. Music will be provided by Mike Lee & Friends. Proceeds benefit the church building fund. Andrew Chapel is located at 3936 Beaver Dam Road, just off Springwood Road, in Buchanan.

 

Free movie Sunday at FUMC

Fincastle United Methodist will host a Family Movie Event on Sunday, July 21, at 2 p.m. in the Family Life Center on 137 S. Church Street. Come enjoy a showing of “October Sky” along with free popcorn, popped fresh from an old-fashioned popper. All are welcome.

 

Clothes Closet open Tuesday in Fincastle

Fincastle United Methodist’s Clothes Closet will be open on Tuesday, July 23, in the Family Life Center, 137 S. Church Street, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Donations of gently worn, clean clothing and shoes may be dropped off at that time, too.

 

Back-to-School Fun Time at Troutville Park

Area children are invited to Back-to-School Fun Time at Troutville Park on Saturday, July 27, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be games, prizes, refreshments and a free bag of school supplies. The event is sponsored by Troutville Baptist Church.

 

Springwood Baptist VBS

Vacation Bible School is coming to Springwood Baptist Church, Wednesday, July 31- Friday, August 2 from 6-8.30 p.m. There will be fun for all ages, including Bible study, games, crafts and more. Sign up now at springwoodbc.org.

 

Funds requested for Kern-Mays Cemetery

Donations are needed for the Kern-Mays Cemetery on Rt.43/Narrow Passage Road near Eagle Rock. Please mail donations to Kern-Mays Cemetery, c/o Gracie Mundy, 8252 Narrow Passage Road, Eagle Rock. For more information call Gracie at 540-494-5995.

 

Donations welcome for Andrew Chapel Cemetery

Mowing season is here and donations for maintenance of the Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery are welcome. Donations, made payable to Andrew Chapel Cemetery Fund, may be sent to Andrew Chapel UMC, P.O. Box 998, Buchanan, 24066. No contribution is too small and all are greatly appreciated.

 

Eagle Rock Clothes Closet dates

The Eagle Rock Community Clothes Closet located at Eagle Rock United Methodist Church, 14565 Church Street, will be open Saturdays, August 3 and August 10, from 9 a.m. to noon, and Wednesday, August 7, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Ladies’, men’s and children’s clothing, as well as toys, are offered at no charge. To make clothing donations or volunteer to help with mission, contact Pastor Ray Sandifer at 540-525-0258.

 

Back-to-school sale at Cloverdale Thrift Store

Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Store a fabulous back-to-school special. All children’s clothing from newborn to size 16 – 25 cents each. There is an enormous selection, come check it out.
