Back-to-School Fun Day July 30 in Troutville Park

A Back-to-School Fun Day will be held Saturday, July 30 in Troutville Park. Troutville Baptist Church welcomes children to attend from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for a free bag of school supplies, games, prizes and a free hot dog lunch.

 

Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop has summer clothes

The Thrift Shop at Cloverdale Church of the Brethren is open with new merchandise and the same low prices each Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. It has capris and shorts for only 50 cents, bathing suits for the entire family for just $1, clothes for the entire family, women, men, girls, preteen, and boys, all at the low price of $1 or $2 each.  Name brands shoes are only $1 and a large selection of jewelry, only 50 cents each. It also carries household items, movies and children’s toys.  Donations are welcome.

 

Upcoming activities at Pleasant Hill Baptist

Pleasant Hill Baptist will be offering the “Experiencing God” Bible study on Thursdays, July 7-September 22, from 6:15-7:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Dive into this 12-session Bible study and see how God’s word applies to your life.

Pleasant Hill will host a CPR & AED Training Course on Tuesday, August 2 at 6 p.m. Cathy Cockrell, with Agenacare Community Medicine, will be instructing on use of the AED, CPR for adults, children and infants, as well as basic trauma care. Register for the class at phbcwellness@gmail.com or by calling 540-992-5556. There is no charge for the class and all are welcome.

 

Bible Time at Colonial Baptist

Colonial Baptist Church in Blue Ridge is heading up the Australian coast in the upcoming Colonial Bible Time July 24-27. The theme this year for boys and girls ages 4-grade 6 is “Kookaburra Coast.” Kids are invited for Coastline Crafts, Roo Rally Games, Quokka Canteen, and a nightly Outback Assembly. Classes will meet Sunday-Wednesday from 6:45-8:30 p.m. to tour the outback and travel with the Israelites through the book of Exodus with Moses.  Call the church office at 977-5683 for a ride. No pre-registration required. CBC is located at 221 Hillcrest Street in Blue Ridge, just off Rt. 460 at Mountain Pass Road.

 

Troutville Assembly of God yard, bake sale this Saturday

Troutville Assembly of God will have a yard and bake sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. this Saturday, July 23, at the church, 118 Conner Lane, Troutville, rain or shine. Lots of miscellaneous items will be available. A bag sale on clothes will begin after 12 noon.

 

Yard sale July 30 at St. Mark’s UMC

St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Daleville is having a huge yard sale on July 30 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m., selling clothing, home goods, toys, books, furniture and more. Also featured will be the first Kids’ Maker Market.

 

Mt. Olivet Summer Bazaar August 13

The Summer Bazaar at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, 26310 Lee Hwy., Buchanan, is set for Saturday, August 13, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., serving breakfast and lunch, with a bake sale, yard sale, and items made by the Mount Olivet Quilters.

Yard sale space is available for $5.

New Beginnings yard sale August 6

New Beginning Church on Narrow Passage Road, Buchanan, is having a yard sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. August 6, inside, rain or shine.

 

Pico-Styne-Nofsinger Cemetery needs funds

Pico-Styne-Nofsinger Cemetery in Buchanan is in need of funds.

Donations are needed to have the cemetery mowed and maintenance done. This is a small cemetery and its caretakers hate to see it go back to an unkempt condition.
