Benefit fish fry for Guatemalan mission trip Saturday, July 13

A benefit fish fry will be held from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, July 13 at the VFW Hall, 4902 Roanoke Road, Daleville, drive-through only. Proceeds will go toward a local mission trip to Guatemala.

The meal will consist of two pieces of fish, parsley potatoes, slaw, hushpuppies and dessert for $13. Tickets are in advance only and may be purchased by calling Kim at 540-529-4868 or Sherry at 540-354- 9823.

 

Pleasant Hill food distribution July 13

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will have food box distribution on Saturday, July 13, from 9-10:30 a.m. Food boxes will be available at the church, 4930 Country Club Road, or the Eagle Rock Library. Boxes are free and will be given out till gone.

 

Lapsleys Run Baptist Homecoming July 14

Lapsleys Run Baptist Church will celebrate the annual Homecoming Day on Sunday, July 14. The morning service will begin at 11 a.m. The speaker for the morning service will be Brother Edgar Freeman. Lunch will be served following the morning service.

The afternoon service will begin at 2 p.m.  Guests will be the Rev. Mark Tucker and the choir and congregation of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of Goode, Va.
During the afternoon service, the dining hall will be dedicated in honor of Angela Freeman Hilton for her years of dedicated service.
All are welcome. Members look forward to seeing everyone for any of the services, especially on Homecoming Day.
Regular services are held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 11 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend these and all services at Lapsleys Run Baptist Church which is located at 608 Zion Hill Road, Fincastle.

 

Galatia Community Meal July 8

Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church Potluck Community Meal will be July 8 at noon at the Community Center in Eagle Rock. Bring a dish or dessert to share with everyone and come for good fellowship and food. Tea (sweet and unsweetened), lemonade, water and coffee will be furnished.

 

Daleville Baptist VBS

Daleville Baptist Church, 375 Orchard Drive, Daleville, will host Vacation Bible School July 14-18, 6-8:30 p.m. “Jungle Journey: An Epic Cruise from Genesis to Revelation” classes will be available for ages preschool through eighth grade. Springwood Baptist VBS

Vacation Bible School is coming to Springwood Baptist Church, Wednesday, July 31- Friday, August 2 from 6-8.30 p.m. There will be fun for all ages, including Bible study, games, crafts and more. Sign up now at springwoodbc.org.

 

Funds requested for Kern-Mays Cemetery

Donations are needed for the Kern-Mays Cemetery on Rt.43/Narrow Passage Road near Eagle Rock. Please mail donations to Kern-Mays Cemetery, c/o Gracie Mundy, 8252 Narrow Passage Road, Eagle Rock. For more information call Gracie at 540-494-5995.

 

Donations welcome for Andrew Chapel Cemetery

Mowing season is here and donations for maintenance of the Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery are welcome. Donations, made payable to Andrew Chapel Cemetery Fund, may be sent to Andrew Chapel UMC, P.O. Box 998, Buchanan, 24066. No contribution is too small and all are greatly appreciated.

 

Ice cream picnic July 20 at Andrew Chapel

Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church will hold its ice cream picnic on Saturday, July 20, beginning at 5 p.m. This year’s event will include hot dogs and Bratwurst, with full fixings and chips, and homemade ice cream and desserts. Music will be provided by Mike Lee & Friends. Proceeds benefit the church building fund. Andrew Chapel is located at 3936 Beaver Dam Road, just off Springwood Road, in Buchanan.
