Mt. Joy Homecoming August 3

Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren, 2565 Buffalo Road, Buchanan, will have Homecoming on Sunday, August 3, with Sunday School at 10 a.m. and the worship service at 11 a.m. Pastor Michael Tabor and the congregation welcome one and all.

 

Community Hymn Sing at Mt. Carmel

Mt. Carmel Church, Eagle Rock, will host a Community Hymn Sing on Sunday, August 10 at 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will follow. All are welcome.

 

Pleasant Hill offering food boxes 

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will be giving out food boxes on August 9 from 9 a.m., or until all gone, or 10:30 a.m. Pick -up locations are at the church on Country Club Road or Eagle Rock Library.

 

Eagle Rock Clothes Closet open dates

The Eagle Rock Community Clothes Closet at Eagle Rock United Methodist Church, 14565 Church Street, Eagle Rock, will be open Saturdays, August 2 and 9, from 9 a.m. to noon, and Wednesday, August 6 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, as well as toys and shoes, will be available at no charge. Bags are provided and please honor the bag limit posted.

A donation box is now located outside the church. To arrange for large donations or volunteer to help with mission, contact Pastor Ray Sandifer at 540-525-0258.

 

Cloverdale Thrift Store sale

Cloverdale Church of the Brethren’s Thrift Store is having a shoe sale – 25 cents a pair now. Starting July 26 and every last Saturday of the month will have a special sale – fill a plastic grocery bag for $5.  Gently used donations are welcome. The store is open Saturdays, 9 to 12.

 

Joyful Journey Travels announces upcoming trips

Joyful Journey Travels is an outreach ministry of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Daleville. This ministry specializes in offering overnight trips for senior citizens that are safe, affordable, and fun. However, any age is welcome; grandparents often bring their grandchildren. Upcoming trips include:

  • Ark Encounter & Creation Museum, August 4-7;  $775 per person double occupancy, $1,034 per person single occupancy. Package includes: 2 nights lodging, 3 breakfasts, 3 dinners including a river boat cruise with dinner and entertainment, admission to the Ark Encounter & the Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky, guided tour of Cincinnati, souvenir gift, luggage handling, taxes and meal gratuities, motorcoach transportation and driver’s tip. The Ark Encounter brings the Ark of Noah’s day to life, complete with a 510-foot-lon, full size ark built according to the dimensions given in the Bible containing three decks of exhibits. Outside the Ark, visit the Ararat Zoo with animals from around the world, including Tibetan yaks, kangaroos, and ostriches; then take a ride on a camel. Then return to Cincinnati for a guided tour of Cincinnati to explore the highlights of downtown, Fountain Square, Washington Park and trendy Over-the-Rhine area. Then depart for Newport, Ky., for a dinner and entertainment at a popular restaurant.

On Day 3, after breakfast at the hotel, travel to Petersburg, Ky., to spend the day at the Creation Museum which brings the pages of the Bible to life. Adam and Eve live in the Garden of Eden, children play, dinosaurs roam near Eden’s Rivers, and the Serpent coils cunningly in the Tree of the Knowledge of Good & Evil. There is much more to experience.  End the day with a scenic riverboat dinner cruise down the Ohio River.

  • Nashville’s Opryland Country Christmas, Dec. 15-17;  $822 per person double occupancy, $1,141 per person single occupancy. Package includes: 2 nights lodging at the Gaylor Opryland Hotel, 2 breakfasts, Gen.
