Lapsleys Run Baptist Homecoming July 10
Lapsleys Run Baptist Church will celebrate the annual Homecoming Day on Sunday, July 10, at 11 a.m.
The pastor, the Rev. David W. Halsey Sr., will deliver the morning message. Lunch will be served following the morning service, but there will not be an afternoon service. This year, the church will honor Naomi Freeman for her years of dedicated service to Lapsleys Run Baptist Church. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Regular services are held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 11 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend these and all services at Lapsleys Run Baptist Church, which is located at 608 Zion Hill Road, Fincastle.
Community Meal at Galatia Presbyterian
Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 78 Gala Loop Road, Eagle Rock, will have a Potluck Community Meal on Monday, July 11, at 12 Noon. Hot dogs and fixings, tea (sweet and unsweet), lemonade, water and coffee will be furnished by the church. Bring a dish to share and join in for good fellowship and food.
Springwood Food Pantry open July 16
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on Saturday, July 16 from 9-10:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan. This pantry is a drive through pantry, so clients may remain in their cars and volunteers will load the food for them.
Clients are asked to remain in their cars and food orders will be delivered to them. Additionally, clients are asked to wear masks when volunteers approach the vehicle.
The pantry is open each month on the third Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. It is a partner with Feeding America Southwest Virginia and anyone in need of food is invited.
Ice Cream Picnic at Andrew Chapel
Andrew Chapel UMC will hold its Ice Cream Picnic on Saturday, July 16, beginning at 5 p.m. This year’s event will include hot dogs and bratwurst, with full fixings and chips, and homemade ice cream and desserts. Music will be provided by Trinity Tree Bluegrass Players. Proceeds benefit the church building fund. Andrew Chapel is located at 3936 Beaver Dam Road, just off Springwood Road, in Buchanan.
Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop has summer clothes
The Thrift Shop at Cloverdale Church of the Brethren is open with new merchandise and the same low prices each Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. It has capris and shorts for only 50 cents, bathing suits for the entire family for just $1, clothes for the entire family, women, men, girls, preteen, and boys, all at the low price of $1 or $2 each. Name brands shoes are only $1 and a large selection of jewelry, only 50 cents each. It also carries household items, movies and children’s toys. Donations are welcome.
Upcoming activities at Pleasant Hill Baptist
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will host a class on Nutrition Made Easy on Monday, July 11 at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The class, taught by Kirstin Figel, director of Operations of Agenacare Housecalls and Agenacare Community Medicine, will feature a short and “easy to digest” presentation on the basics of how to use food and daily activity to prevent and manage chronic illnesses, while still enjoying your life. Registration is not needed. Refreshments will be served. Anyone interested in the topic is encouraged to attend.
Pleasant Hill Baptist will be offering the “Experiencing God” Bible study on Thursdays, July 7-September 22, from 6:15-7:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Dive into this 12-session Bible study and see how God’s word applies to your life.
Pleasant Hill will host a CPR & AED Training Course on Tuesday, August 2 at 6 p.m. Cathy Cockrell, with Agenacare Community Medicine, will be instructing on use of the AED, CPR for adults, children and infants, as well as basic trauma care. Daleville Baptist VBS begins Sunday
“Zoomerang” Vacation Bible School will be held Sunday, July 10 through Thursday, July 14 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Daleville Baptist Church, 375 Orchard Drive, Daleville.

Vacation Bible School at St. Mark’s
St. Mark’s United Methodist in Daleville will be hosting a “Monumental “ Vacation Bible School for children 4 years old to rising 6th graders July 11-15 from 6-8:30 each evening. Mill Creek VBS begins July 17
Mill Creek Baptist Church will be hosting “Monumental” Vacation Bible School Sunday, July 17 through Thursday, July 21 from 6-8:30 p.m. Kids from ages 3 through fifth grade will celebrate God’s greatness at “Monumental.” Online registration and more information are available on the church website millcreekbc.com. Bible Time at Colonial Baptist
Colonial Baptist Church in Blue Ridge is heading up the Australian coast in the upcoming Colonial Bible Time July 24-27. The theme this year for boys and girls ages 4-grade 6 is “Kookaburra Coast.” Kids are invited for Coastline Crafts, Roo Rally Games, Quokka Canteen, and a nightly Outback Assembly. Classes will meet Sunday-Wednesday from 6:45-8:30 p.m. to tour the outback and travel with the Israelites through the book of Exodus with Moses. Call the church office at 977-5683 for a ride. Valley View Baptist VBS July 11-15
Valley View Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School July 11-15 each night from 6:30-8:30. A meal will be provided each night along with the lesson, games and Moon Walk. Friday night will be awards night and a cookout. Everyone is welcome.
