Fish Fry Saturday at Mill Creek Baptist

The Spring Fish Fry at Mill Creek Baptist Church will be held on Saturday, May 17 in the fellowship hall. The menu will consist of two pieces of white fish, parsley potatoes, slaw and Hushpuppies. Homemade desserts will also be available for purchase. For those dining in, a beverage of coffee, water, tea or lemonade will be available.

Tickets are $12 each and can be reserved by calling 540-797-2304. All proceeds will support the July mission trip to Kenel, S.D.

 

Cowbell Service at Mt. Joy

Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren is having a Cowbell Service at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 17. The service will include five speakers and special music. All are invited. The church is located at 2565 Buffalo Road, Buchanan.

 

Bake sale on Friday will benefit food pantry

The Buchanan Presbyterian Church will have a bake sale on Friday, May 16, from 8 a.m. until noon in front of the Buchanan Town Hall. This sale is to support the Buchanan Presbyterian Food Pantry.  Purchase goodies for yourself and help your neighbors who have food needs.

 

Wholeness and Healing at Fincastle Presbyterian

Fincastle Presbyterian Church will host the regular fourth Wednesday Wholeness and Healing service on May 18 in the Fellowship Hall at 5 p.m. This is a short prayer service of quiet, music, and prayer followed by a time of meal and fellowship with a light supper.

 

Donations needed for Mt. Bethel Cemetery

Donations are being accepted for the upkeep of the Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The cemetery is located on Rt. 43/Narrow Passage Road near Eagle Rock. Please mail donations to Etta Alexander P.O. Box 5, Eagle Rock, 24085.

 

Cloverdale Thrift Store spring sale

Cloverdale Church of the Brethren’s Thrift Store has capris and shorts for the whole family. Gently used donations are welcome. The store is open Saturdays, 9 to 12.

 

Donations needed for Springwood Cemetery repair

Springwood Baptist Church has a contract of $5,000 for stonework in the “old” cemetery. Approximately 29 marked stones will be straightened and leveled, along with reassembling many broken stones.

Donations may be mailed to: Springwood Baptist Church, c/o Gary Peery, 234 Peery Lane, Buchanan, 24066. Put Cemetery Repair in the check memo line.

 

Funds requested for Mays-Kern Cemetery upkeep

The Mays-Kern Cemetery on Narrow Passage Road, Eagle Rock, is asking for those who have loved ones buried in the cemetery or wish to be buried there, if they would give a donation to help with the upkeep of this cemetery. Mowing and keeping the cemetery upkeep is done by several family members and they need help with expenses and cleanup of this cemetery. Shiloh UMC Cemetery asking for funds

Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery on Shiloh Road, Eagle Rock, is asking for donations from people who have loved ones there, or who own plots, to help with its upkeep. Expenses such as gasoline, equipment expenses and labor have increased. Call 540-620-2625 if you have any questions; or if interested in looking at a resting place. Troutville Baptist VBS in the Park

Area children ages 4-12 are invited to Troutville Baptist’s VBS in the Park from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 7. It will be held in Troutville Park’s shelter near the tennis court. The event will include crafts, games, music, Bible stories and lunch.

 

St. Mark’s UMC Vacation Bible School

St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Daleville invites all children to “Hero Central: Discover Your Strength in God”s Vacation Bible School. The fun begins Monday, June 9 and runs through Friday, June 13 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at 19 Cedar Ridge Drive, Daleville. Children age 3, who are toilet trained, through rising fifth graders are invited to VBS. Rising sixth and seventh graders are invited to participate in Service Squad, a hands-on mission trip experience to do local mission work each day. Space will be limited in both the Preschool/Pre-K group and Service Squad, so early registration is strongly recommended. Visit the church website at www.stmarksmethodist.com to register.
