Homecoming, anniversary celebration at Lapsleys Run

Lapsleys Run Baptist Church will celebrate the annual Harvest Homecoming and 155th Church Anniversary on Sunday, November 12.  Homecoming begins at 11 a.m.  The church pastor, the Rev. David W. Halsey, Sr., will be the speaker for this service. Dinner will be served after the morning service.
The 155th Church Anniversary service will begin at 2 p.m.  The guest speaker will be the Rev. Amy Hodge, who will be accompanied by the choir from Mt Zion A.M.E. Church of Roanoke. Everyone is welcome to these celebrations.
Regular services are held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Everyone is invited to attend all services at Lapsleys Run Baptist Church, 608 Zion Hill Road, Fincastle.

 

Food distribution at Pleasant Hill, Eagle Rock

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will be giving out free boxes of food staples on Saturday, November 11, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Boxes will be available at the church, 4930 Country Club Road, and at the Eagle Rock Library.

 

Buchanan Food Pantry open November 11

The Buchanan Presbyterian Church Food Pantry will be giving out food curbside on Saturday, November 11, from 9-11 a.m. Volunteers from St. Mark’s United Methodist Church will be assisting those in getting food. Food items will include bread, milk, frozen meat, canned goods, cereal and other everyday items. The church is located at 19559 Main Street, Buchanan.  All are welcome.

 

Springwood Food Pantry open November 18

The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on Saturday, November 18 from 9-10:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan. This pantry is a drive-through pantry, so clients may remain in their cars and volunteers will load the food for them. The pantry is open each month on the third Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. It is a partner with Feeding America Southwest Virginia and anyone in need of food is invited.

 

Trinity UMC Family Movie Night – ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’

Trinity United Methodist Church is showing the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” on Saturday, November 18.  Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the movie will begin at 6:30.  Bring a favorite non-alcoholic beverage to enjoy with the free popcorn and free ice cream sundaes. Trinity UMC is located at 19637 Main Street, Buchanan.

 

Solomon’s Mission Christmas Bazaar November 18

A Christmas Bazaar will be held at Solomon’s Mission at 592 Lowe Street, Buchanan, on November 18 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Vendors include Pampered Chef, Thirty One, Lick Run Creations, Hunt & Chase, homemade items, Mary Kay and many more. Lunch will be available for sale.

 

First Baptist Church of Fincastle to celebrate the Rev. Montie E. Brown Sr. 18th pastoral anniversary

The First Baptist Church of Fincastle family will be celebrating the 18th pastoral anniversary their pastor, the Rev. Montie E. Brown Sr. on Sunday, November 19, during the 11 a.m. service. He is a Man of God who continues to make a difference in the church as well as the community. First Lady Sis. Carolyn Brown serves as a support to the ministry also while serving in various capacities in the church. They both are an inspiration to all whom they meet. Minister Dollie Adams, Associate Minister, will be delivering God’s message for this glorious occasion. Everyone is invited.

 

Community Thanksgiving service in Buchanan

The Buchanan Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) will sponsor a community Thanksgiving worship service on Sunday, November 19 at 6 p.m. at Buchanan Presbyterian Church. Pastor Leonard Southern of Lithia Baptist Church will bring the message. All are welcome.

 

November events for Springwood Baptist Church

  • Sunday, November 12 at 7 p.m., Pastor Morris Bennet from Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church will be preaching at Springwood Baptist Church, 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan.
  • Sunday, November 19, service at 11 a.m., followed by a Thanksgiving meal. Bring your favorite vegetable and dessert to share. Turkey, gravy, and dressing will be provided by the church.

 

Troutville churches to hold Thanksgiving service

All are invited to Troutville Church of the Brethren on November 19 for a community Thanksgiving service at 4 p.m. Mark Childers from Cave Rock Baptist will be the speaker. Other participating congregations are Ebenezer United Methodist and Troutville Baptist. Light refreshments will be served afterwards. The church is located at 5133 Lee Highway in Troutville.
