Buchanan Presbyterian Church will celebrate long-serving treasurer, hear program on Christian Centers for the Deaf  

Peggy Thrasher, a member of Buchanan Presbyterian Church, will be retiring as the church’s treasurer for the past 28 years on October 31. “Peggy has been faithful and dedicated to this position and served the Lord and the church well over these almost three decades as its treasurer,” said Pastor Skip Hastings. She will be celebrated for her service during the 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Oct. 30.

Tom and Debbie Turner will be guests during the 11 a.m. service to explain their work with the deaf. Tom is general director of International Christian Centers for the Deaf. His wife Debbie is his assistant. They began their work in 1989 as missionaries to the deaf. Their ministry is focused on reaching the deaf for Christ in developing countries. The church welcomes visitors for his informative program.

 

Glade Creek Baptist to honor former pastor, Dr. Philip Ayers

Glade Creek Baptist invites the community, church members past and present, and friends of the church to attend on Sunday, Oct. 30at 11 a.m. for a very special service as the church honors the former pastor of nearly four decades, Dr. Philip Ayers, and his wife Lois, by bestowing on him the title of Pastor Emeritus.

“We thank God for his time at Glade Creek Baptist Church, and know that God still has great things in store for this wonderful couple. We hope you’ll stay after the service as well for a reception in the Ayers’s honor. We look forward to seeing you there,” said Pastor Aaron Lyles.

 

Glade Creek Baptist Fall Festival

Glade Creek Baptist Church will host a Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 1 until 4 p.m.  The church is inviting all to come and join in the fun, which will include hayrides, games and activities for all ages, a bounce house, as well as hot dogs, refreshments, baked goods and more.  The entire event is free to the public.

Daleville Baptist Festival, Trunk-or-Treat

Daleville Baptist Church is hosting a Fall Festival & Trunk-or-Treat on October 30 from 3-5 p.m. Activities will include hayrides, cake walks, and a bounce house. Hot dogs, chips, cookies, etc. will be available as supplies last. It’s free fun for the whole family. Daleville Baptist Church is located at 375 Orchard Drive, Daleville.

 

Buchanan Baptist Truth & Treats

Buchanan Baptist Church will be hosting Truth & Treats on the church lawn at 19730 Main Street on October 31 from 5 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Treats, children’s Bibles, and barbecue sliders will be free for anyone who stops by.

 

Troutville Brethren Trunk or Treat

Troutville Church of the Brethren will be having Trunk or Treat on October 31 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

 

Free hot dogs Monday at Buchanan Presbyterian

Trick or Treaters of all ages are invited to the fellowship hall at Buchanan Presbyterian Church, 19559 Main Street, Buchanan, for hot dogs, chips, drinks and candy on Monday, Oct. 31. Hot dogs will be served from 4:30-8:30 p.m.

 

Jesus Fest at Solomon’s Mission

Solomon’s Mission will have its annual Jesus Fest October 31, 6-8 p.m. One way in through the back door, 25 at a time entrance, then you are on your own for family fun, including the Good News, cake walk, chicken nugget meal, games, etc. The event will be inside and outside.

Solomon’s is also a drop-off spot for the Drug Take-Back Day October 29, 10-2, where folks can bring any unwanted medication.

 

Upcoming activities at St. Mark’s UMC

Trunk-or-Treat: Mark your calendars now for Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 4 to 5:30. This will be fun for the whole family! Bring your child in costume (you can dress up too) and don’t forget something to carry all that candy! Please come and bring your friends!

Back to Church Sunday: Nov 6. Invite your friends and family. We will have one service this day at 10 a.m. with a potluck and ministry fair at 11! Easy Pickins will be playing during the potluck and ministry fair! Everyone is welcome!

O Holy Bright Drive Thru Christmas Lights: It’s that time of year again for our third annual Drive Thru Christmas Lights event! We will have Christmas lights Dec. 2-4, Dec. 9-11, Dec. 16-18 and Dec. 24 from 5:30 to 9:30.

It’s a big dill…Pickleball has arrived. Come join the fun in St. Mark’s Family Life Center. First and fourth Mondays of the month, 5-7 p.m.; second and third Mondays of the month, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.; fifth Monday, no pickleball. Inclement weather schedule: if schools are closed, the gym is closed. Cost: Donations (for facility use, electricity and equipment replacement).

Worship Times: Traditional Worship Services: 8:30 a.m. Traditional Worship which celebrates Communion each week 11 a.m.; traditional worship often with presence of the choir–this service is live streamed.

 

Potluck Community Meal at Galatia EPC

You are invited to a Potluck Community Meal at Galatia EPC, 78 Gala Loop Road, Eagle Rock, on Monday, Nov. 7, at 12 noon. The church will furnish two turkey breasts, tea (sweet and unsweet), lemonade and coffee. Bring a dish to share with everyone and come for good fellowship and good food.

 

Lapsleys Run Homecoming, Church Anniversary

Lapsleys Run Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Harvest Homecoming and 154th Church Anniversary on Sunday, November 13, at 11 a.m.  The Rev. David W. Halsey Sr., pastor, will be the speaker for the occasion.  Dinner will be served after the morning service, but there will be no afternoon services.
Regular services are held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.  Everyone is invited to attend these and all services at Lapsleys Run Baptist Church at 608 Zion Hill Road, Fincastle.
