Buchanan Food Pantry open Saturday

The Buchanan Presbyterian Church Food Pantry will be open Saturday, October 12. Hosts will be Buchanan Baptist Church and will be open 9 a.m. till 11 a.m. Volunteers will distribute meat, bread, milk and staples at the curb. Anyone in need is welcome. The church is at 19559 Main Street, Buchanan.

 

Pleasant Hill food distribution October 12

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will be distributing food boxes at the church on Country Club Road and Eagle Rock Library on Saturday, October 12, from 9-10:30 a.m., or till all boxes have been given out.

 

Mill Creek fish fry October 19

Mill Creek Baptist Church will hold its fall fish fry on Saturday, October 19, in the fellowship hall from 4:30-6:30 p.m., dine in or take out. The cost is $12 for two pieces of fish, parsley potatoes, slaw, and hushpuppies. As always there will homemade desserts to purchase. Reserve tickets  by calling (540) 797-2304. Leave message if no answer and a confirmation call will be returned.

 

First Baptist Church of Fincastle celebrates its 193rd anniversary

The First Baptist Church of Fincastle will celebrate its 193rd anniversary Sunday, October 20, at 11 a.m.

“This church has a great legacy and was built on a firm foundation which is Jesus Christ, the Lord,” said Minister Dollie Adams. “We are thrilled to extend to you an invitation to this special celebration as we commemorate 193 years of faith, service and our enduring legacy in Christ. The guest speaker for this wonderful occasion will be the Rev. Clinton Crump, who is truly a Man of God. This is not just an anniversary, but a testament to God’s unwavering grace and a reflection of His glory in our lives and community.”

Everyone is invited and dinner will be served in the fellowship hall directly after the service.

 

Trinity UMC celebration October 26

Everyone is invited to join Trinity United Methodist Church for the 100th anniversary celebration of the reconstruction of the church building. Activities will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 2 p.m. on the church grounds at 19637 Main Street, Buchanan on Saturday, October 26. Activities will include games, free food, music and other surprises.

 

Upcoming concerts at Pleasant Hill Baptist

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will host the Common Bond Quartet, a renowned gospel group from Raceland, Ky., on Sunday, October 13 at 11 a.m. All are invited to come early to ensure a seat.

Pleasant Hill will host the Gospel Harmony Boys, a West Virginia-based gospel group, on Sunday, November 3 at 11 a.m. All are invited to worship at Pleasant Hill – gospel-style.

 

Election Eve Community Prayer Service

Buchanan Presbyterian Church is hosting a non-partisan Prayer Service from 7-7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 4. All are invited to come pray together for leaders, localities, and the next day’s elections. The church is located at 19559 Main Street in Buchanan.

 

Pork BBQ Dinner at Springwood Baptist

Springwood Baptist Church’s Annual Pork BBQ Dinner, sponsored by Aaron’s Smokehouse, will be held Saturday, October 26, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church, 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan.

Each meal, priced at $12, includes two pork barbecue sandwiches, coleslaw, baked beans, and a drink. Desserts will be available for an additional charge.

This is a takeout-only event, with meals available on a first-come, first-served basis. No pre-sold tickets or reservations will be accepted. The public is invited.
