Springwood Food Pantry open April 3, 17
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on April 3 and April 17 from 10 a.m. until noon. Additionally, Feeding America Southwest Virginia’s produce delivery vehicle, the “Veggie Mobile,” will be onsite on both dates to distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to community members in need free of charge. This program is part of the food bank’s Mobile Produce Program. Stop by and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to get fresh, healthy produce.

Candy Easter eggs available from Ebenezer UMC
Ebenezer United Methodist Church is starting to make peanut butter, butter cream and coconut Easter eggs. The eight-ounce eggs cost $5. If interested call Sharon at 540-797-9978 and leave a message. The eggs will be available for pick up the week before Palm Sunday.
Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop
The Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop is having a March clearance sale. All winter clothes are only 50 cents each. The shop accepts donations Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and is open each Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Cedar Bluff spaghetti dinner March 30
Cedar Bluff Baptist Church will have a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, March 30 from 5-7 p.m. as an ongoing fundraiser to build a picnic shelter on the church grounds.
Tickets can be bought ahead or at the door for $8. This pays for spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and drink. Dessert will cost $1.00 extra. Contact Sandy Petty at 254-1891 for tickets or more information.
Springwood Baptist Note Burning Service
Springwood Baptist will have a Note Burning Service on March 31, with lunch to follow the service. Fried chicken will be provided by the church and members are asked to supply side dishes and desserts. All are invited.
Fincastle UMC Wednesday services for Lent
Fincastle United Methodist Church will hold weekly Wednesday Lenten Services and Lunch in the Family Life Center, 137 South Church Street, Fincastle. These 20-minute services begin at 12:05 p.m. and will be led by area pastors. A home-cooked lunch will follow each service. The service and meal are designed to last about one hour. Child care will be provided. Takeout meals will be available. The remaining services are:
- March 27 – Rev. The Rob March, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Fincastle; Lunch – Ham Biscuits, Macaroni Salad, Deviled Eggs, Desserts
- April 3 – The Rev. Willis Logan, Fincastle Episcopal Church; Lunch – Vegetable Soup, Sausage Corn Chowder, Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Fruit, Desserts
- April 10 – The Rev. Fr. Stephen McNally, Church of the Transfiguration, Fincastle; Lunch – Chef Salad, Jello Salads, Desserts
The lunch menus are subject to change. If Botetourt County Public Schools are closed because of inclement weather, the service will be canceled.
Everyone is invited to attend these services during the season of Lent.
Buchanan Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) Lenten services
The Buchanan area churches invite the public to attend ecumenical worship services during the season of Lent leading up to Easter Sunday morning. The services begin with worship followed by the Word being preached. Each service that begins at 12 noon will conclude with a free light lunch in that church’s fellowship hall. The services held at 7 p.m. will have a time of fellowship and refreshments. All are welcome to each service. Any questions, call 580-6810.

FUMC chicken barbecue April 6
Fincastle United Methodist Church is sponsoring a chicken barbecue on Saturday, April 6. It will be held at the VFW Hall, 4902 Roanoke Road, from 4-7 p.m. The menu is half a barbecued chicken with Percy Bolton’s special sauce, homemade potato salad, baked apples, roll and a drink. Homemade desserts will be available for purchase. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance by calling 473-2969 or 521-5074.
Yard sale April 6 at Troutville Brethren
A yard sale will be held at Troutville Church of the Brethren on Saturday, April 6 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. There also will be breakfast food available, and hot dogs and barbecue with all the fixings for lunch.
Troutville Brethren Easter events
Troutville Church of the Brethren will have an egg hunt on April 14 starting at 5 p.m.
On Maundy Thursday, April 18, the Love Feast worship service at 7 p.m. and Easter worship at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 21.
St. Mark’s UMC plans fall trips
