Springwood Food Pantry dates
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on October 4 and October 18 from 10 a.m. until noon. Additionally, Feeding America Southwest Virginia’s produce delivery vehicle, the “Veggie Mobile,” will be onsite on October 4 to distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to community members in need free of charge. This program is part of the food bank’s Mobile Produce Program. Please stop by and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to get fresh, healthy produce. In the future, the “Veggie Mobile” will visit the Springwood Baptist Food Pantry on the first Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m.

Solomon’s Mission open Saturday
Solomon’s Mission in Buchanan will be open this Saturday, Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. The second Saturday lunch on October 14 will be provided by Valley View Baptist Church.
Cloverdale Thrift Shop fall sale
The Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop has a great selection of lightweight fall jackets, sweaters and vests for women, men and children for only $2 each. Also women’s shoes for all occasions only $1 a pair. The shop is open each Saturday, 9 a.m-1 p.m.
Buchanan Baptist honoring Woody
Buchanan Baptist Church will honor former Pastor Mike Woody on Sunday, Oct. 8 by bestowing to him the title of Pastor Emeritus.
Woody served the church as pastor for 23 years, longer than any pastor before him, before retiring in late 2015. The special service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a potluck luncheon. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Cave Rock Baptist Homecoming
Cave Rock Baptist Church, Troutville, will have Homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 8. Sunday School will begin at 10 a.m. and the worship service at 11 a.m. with interim Pastor John Graybill. The church will provide dinner for all after the service.
St. Mark’s spaghetti dinner
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will hold its 22nd Annual Italian Night Spaghetti Dinner at the Fincastle Firehouse on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 4-7 p.m. The Italian Night theme will be portrayed in table and wall decorations. The meal cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 6-12. There is no charge for children under 6 years of age. The meal includes a full portion of homemade spaghetti, salad, garlic bread sticks, lemonade, ice tea, and a variety of homemade desserts. Meals will be available for take-out.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the St. Mark’s Ministry Center office at 221 S. Roanoke Street in Fincastle and from church members or may be purchased at the door. Proceeds from the event go to outreach ministries in the local Fincastle and Botetourt County area. The event, which is put on by the Episcopal Men’s Fellowship of St. Mark’s, brings together a large part of the local Fincastle and surrounding community. Yard sale at Mill Creek
Mill Creek Baptist Church is having a yard sale Saturday, Oct. 7 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be breakfast, lunch and a bake sale as well.
All proceeds benefit the 2018 Mission Team to the Dominican Republic.
Youth mental health focus at Daleville
An all-day class is scheduled Monday, Oct. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. to help parents, teachers and others concerned with the mental health of teens learn more of such issues as addiction. Bingo at Wheatland Lutheran
The Botetourt community is invited to a game of Bingo, lunch, the opportunity to make new friends, and a chance to win some prizes at the monthly meeting of Sharing God’s Grace at Wheatland Lutheran Church. The enjoyment begins at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 17, with lunch served by the ladies of the church. Bingo follows lunch with prizes awarded to the winning cards. Troutville Baptist BBQ Oct. 20
Troutville Baptist Church is having a BBQ dinner and bake sale fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20 at the Troutville Town Hall. The $8 dinner includes BBQ on bun, cole slaw, baked beans, beverage and a cookie. Advance tickets are available at Troutville Grocery, from church members or by call the church at 992-1026. Dinners will be available to dine in or take out.
First Baptist to celebrate anniversary
The First Baptist Church of Fincastle located at 6529 Blue Ridge Turnpike, where the Rev. Montie E. Brown Sr. is pastor, will be celebrating its 186th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Lee Suggs, pastor of Schaffer Memorial Baptist Church in Christiansburg. His choir and congregation will accompany him. Dinner will be served directly after the morning service and everyone is welcome.
Fall Festival at New Beginnings
A Candyland Fall Festival will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. on October 25 at New Beginnings Assembly of God, 1713 Narrow Passage Road. There will be candy, games and hot dogs for all ages. All activities are free.
Villa Heights Fall Festival
Villa Heights Baptist Church on US 460 in Bonsack invites youth from infants through fifth grade to its Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 28 from 12-3 p.m.

October 29 – Doing Fall Festival a little different this year. After church, will be having the Third Annual Nerf Gun Battle with the adults, including Pastor Brian, against the kids; great fellowship and the kids love ganging up on the pastor.
Wheatland Lutheran ‘Tractor Treat’ Oct. 29
Several friends in the community will have their tractors on display for the third annual Halloween community event, “Tractor Treat,” at Wheatland Lutheran Church on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 12-5:30 p.m. Kids can go from tractor to tractor to trick-or-treat and inspect each tractor. There will be rides, face painting, games, bounce house, corn hole, candy for all, and more. There will be food for sale and music to enjoy. There will be a canned food drive so please bring a canned food item to fill up the tractor bucket. All proceeds will go to the Food Pantry in Fincastle and the youth program at

Church of God of Prophecy Fall Bazaar
Botetourt Church of God of Prophecy will hold its Fall Bazaar from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. It will be at the VFW Hall on Roanoke Road between Fincastle and Daleville. There will be crafts of all kinds, baked goods and a silent auction. Breakfast of sausage gravy and biscuits, and sausage, egg, bacon ham and country ham biscuits. Lunch will include hot dogs with homemade chili, potato salad, macaroni salad, chili beans and soup. Admission is free but a can of food for the food pantry will be appreciated.
