The yard sale will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Brianna Dunbar, a senior at James River High School, and Madison Crow, an eightth grader at Staunton River Middle School, will sponsor the sale. The sale will be hosted at the home of Brianna’s and Madison’s grandparents located two miles north of Troutville on US 11 at 7815 Lee Highway, Troutville.

All proceeds from the sale will go to mission projects at each of their churches. Brianna, a member of Fincastle Baptist Church in Fincastle, is raising funds for a church-sponsored mission still in the planning stages for 2018. Madison, a member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church in Vinton,  is raising funds for her church-sponsored mission for ASP and the Jeremiah Project.

Fincastle Baptist Church, working with Hope of Life International, has sent mission teams to the village of Bella Vista in Guatemala for the past several years. These teams have built a school and church and taken various needed supplies to the villagers.  Individual families from Fincastle Baptist have sponsored a child to help. Brianna says it has been a blessing for her family, who is sponsoring a little girl named Sayri Melisa Ramirez Aldana.

Hope of Life uses humanitarian aid efforts as a means to share a practical Gospel to those in physical and spiritual need all over Guatemala.  Saving lives. The mission that Hope of Life longs to share is that simple.

For the past two years Madison has traveled and worked with the Thrasher Memorial UMC youth group on the Jeremiah Project. The Jeremiah Project is one of the premier youth ministry organizations offering summer work camps, spiritual growth retreats (JOURNEY) and leadership development opportunities. JP is a mission organization that exists to serve God’s people in need and empower students to become servant leaders.

Madison is looking forward to joining her youth group at Thrasher Memorial UMC to take part in the Appalachia Service Project. ASP is a Christian ministry, open to all people, that inspires hope and service through volunteer home repair and replacement in Central Appalachia.

Brianna’s and Madison’s yard sale will include household items, clothing, games, toys and lots of other surprises. The girls will also have some of their favorite bake sale items and beverages.

If more information is needed, call 992-4495 or cell phone 540-816-9199. There will be plenty of off-road parking. Shoppers are asked to park on the grounds in the pasture, away from the road and traffic.
