Hundreds of spectators joined more than 100 re-enactors for Buchanan’s annual Civil War History Weekend. The weather was nearly perfect for the camps set along the James River, the skirmishes and two major battle re-enactments— complete with cannon fire.

One of the re-enactment units marches from Town Park under the first Confederate national flag. Town Revitalization Manager Harry Gleason reported that one visitor came from France for the weekend. He was at the event last year and enjoyed it so much he decided to come back.
