The Sunshine Girls invite individuals and groups to clean up the county during Saturday, April 1’s Annual Clean Valley Day by picking up trash along roadsides and at parks.

The Sunshine Girls will be doing the same at a couple of locations in and around Troutville and Fincastle as part of the 39th annual valley-wide event.

Troutville Sunshine Girls are offering a free lunch with ice cream dessert to all Clean Valley Day volunteers at the new “Community Canteen” lunch wagon on Saturday, April 1. The goodies will be served at 12 noon in front of Troutville Town Park. The lunch is sponsored by the American Legion and VFW.

Those interested in helping can get “Let’s Keep Botetourt Beautiful” trash bags and gloves and information on pick-up and drop-off locations by calling Lee Minnix at 819-6335 or visiting the Clean Valley Council website www.cleanvalley.org.

Individuals and groups can also picking up bags and gloves in front of the Troutville Town Park at the Sunshine Station in Troutville.

Clean Valley Council organizes the annual event that welcomes individuals and groups to volunteer for the annual spring cleanup. Volunteers last year came from the Cities of Roanoke and Salem, the Town of Vinton and the Counties of Roanoke and Botetourt.

“This valley-wide clean up promotes respect and care for the beautiful community we share,” a Clean Valley Council announcement says. “It is a great fun, team-building opportunity for corporations, civic organizations, youth and church groups.

Individuals and groups are invited to pick a spot– a park, playground, roadside, stream bank or neighborhood and help get rid of the litter and make it a cleaner, healthier place.

Volunteers can also register at http://www.cleanvalley.org/clean-valley-day-registration.
