The Botetourt County 4-H Cloverbud Horse & Pony Club visited Meadow Wood Stables in Salem in April. Danny and Nancy Troutman own and manage Meadow Wood Stables and specialize in training amateur and juvenile riders and horses. They have beautiful Saddlebred horses that are ridden and driven in prestigious horse shows.

Pictured in front of the Meadow Wood practice arena are the Cloverbuds who could attend: from left, Taylor Vest, Ellie Grubbs, Avery Kelly, Layah Combs, Ava Vest, and Addison Kelly. Also, in the club, but unable to attend are Mason Bandy, Charles Grubbs, Hadley Dooley, Jasmine Montgomery and Khloe Robinson.

The Botetourt Cloverbuds were able to see these horses in lessons and in the field. Nancy Troutman, using one of their chestnut mares as an example, pointed out the exceptional confirmation of Saddlebred horses. Then the 4-H members toured her barn and visited all the horses in each stall.
