Clyde Straley Givens Jr., 86,  of Daleville, passed away February 27, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Straley Givens Sr. and Vinnie Pearl Montgomery; and brother, Clarence Brown Givens.

Clyde attended Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA-B.S. 1956; M.S. 1958, and Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa-one year post graduate study.

He retired his ownership of two Baskin Robbins Franchises (1977-2003)-Perrysburg and Toledo. He was Director of NORIS (Northwest Ohio Regional Information System) –Toledo, Ohio and helped set up and led Criminal Justice Information System.

Clyde was past President of Perrysburg, Ohio Rotary Club, 50-year member Phoenix Masonic Lodge 123, Perrysburg, Ohio, Fort Miami-Calumet Chapter 191, Royal Arch Masons, Maumee, Ohio, Calumet Council, R&SM, Maumee, Ohio, past Commander St. Omer Commandery 59, Perrysburg, Ohio, past Patron Perrysburg Chapter 446, Lotus Chapter 477, Member Botetourt Chapter 135, Order of the Eastern Star, Fincastle, member of the Fincastle Presbyterian Church, and a Life Member of the Craig County Historical Society.

He is survived by wife, Nathalie Strong Givens; children, Diane Josephine Givens Dunkelberger and husband Richard of Groveport, Ohio and Craig Sherwin Givens of Newport News; grandson, Kevin Austin Dunkelberger; brothers, Carroll Thomas Givens (“Toy” Billie June) of Beckley, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Karolyn Whittlesey Givens.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 5, in Ross Cemetery, Craig County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Craig County Historical Society, New Castle; Assistance Dogs for Achieving Independence@ The Ability Center of Greater Toledo, 5605 Monroe St., Sylvania, Ohio 43560; Museum of Danish America, 2212 Washington St., Elkhorn, Iowa 51531, or The Glebe Benevolence Fund or VBH Foundation. Arrangements are by Paitsel Funeral Home, www.paitselfh.com.
