Comcast presented the YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge with $2,500 and laptops to support youth development at the Salem Family YMCA and Botetourt Family YMCA. Comcast’s support will be used for tutoring and homework help at Y after school locations in Salem City Schools and Botetourt County Public Schools.
“The YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge relies on the generosity of our volunteers, donors and partners to fulfill our mission to focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility,” said YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge President and CEO Mark Johnson. “Thanks to the support of Comcast and other Y partners, the YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge can provide after school and summer camp programs that cultivate values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and educational achievement.”
“Comcast values its partnership with the YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge and supports the work it is doing to further youth development,” said Jessica Gappa, Director of Community Impact, Comcast’s Beltway Region. “We are proud to contribute to the YMCA as it strengthens these communities and helps students advance their education.”
The Y’s after school program provides homework help, enrichment opportunities, and physical activity to over 560 children daily attending Roanoke City, Salem City, and Botetourt County Public Schools.
